Anya Shrubsole's three-wicket haul helps England beat Australia in Women's Ashes Test This is Bath -- Anya Shrubsole played a key role for England as they took a major step towards retaining the Women's Ashes with victory by 61 runs in the series' sole Test match on Monday. The hosts were chasing 185 to win at the WACA but started the final day on 57-5. Bath CC seamer Shrubsole claimed three of the five wickets to fall as England completed the job before lunch, finishing on 3-48 from her 14 overs. The 22-year-old got rid of Australia's top-scorer and player of the match Ellyse Perry (31) after being introduced eight overs into the session by captain Charlotte Edwards. Erin Osborne and Rene Farrell followed for ducks as Shrubsole finished the match with seven wickets, having led the way with 4-51 to help limit Australia to 207 and a six-run lead in the first innings. England's win put them 6-0 up ahead of the first of three one-day internationals in Melbourne on Sunday. Those games – plus the trio of Twenty20 internationals that follow them – all carry just two points for a win. "The last four days have been a rollercoaster, but I'm really proud of the girls," Edwards told BBC Sport. "This is not the Ashes won – but we have to keep working hard and hopefully will take the Ashes home." Reported by This is 14 hours ago.
